J.C Listers Farms was founded by Grace’s grandfather John Clifford Lister, who farmed potatoes, spring barley, wheat and sugar beet along with cattle and pigs. When he died in a tragic farm related accident, Grace’s father David (then only 13 years old) and his brother Richard helped their mother to carry on the business with the help of their two uncles Joe and Robert, and over the years have developed J.C Lister Farms to the substantial business it is today. The Listers keep a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle, flocks of Dalesbred, Masham and Mule sheep and run a large pig breeding outfit.
Lister’s Farm Shop was set up in order to connect Lister’s Farms and everything it produces directly with its customers. It has been run by Grace Lister, third generation of the family, since October 2014 and employs 8 people alongside Grace.
